Suzanne Artis, MT-BC

Suzanne Artis, MT-BC is a graduate of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a BFA in Musical Theatre, and California State University Northridge with an equivalency degree in Music Therapy.  She completed her clinical training with Arts & Services for Disabled (ASD) in Hawthorne serving adults with severe developmental and intellectual disabilities.  Upon completing her internship, Suzanne served as Music Therapist and Assistant Program Director at ASD’s CECA facility.  In her time at ASD, Suzanne developed her interest in the holistic approach to music therapy and of shaping communicative intent.

After receiving her degree in musical theatre, Suzanne studied theatre improvisation at The Second City Training Center in Los Angeles.  Suzanne found her passion for music therapy working with children with disabilities the Culver City School District special day classrooms.  She also volunteered for organizations serving adolescents with severe emotional and behavior disorders and adults with Cerebral Palsy, combing her therapy and theatrical training to develop storytelling, songwriting, and improvisation groups focusing on emotional expression and self-esteem.
