Mimi Winer, RN, MS

Mimi WinerMimi has undergraduate degrees in Public Health from UCLA and Nursing from UCSF, and a graduate degree in Parent-Child Nursing from Boston University. She completed a two-year clinical internship with the Child Development Unit at Boston Children's Hospital (T. Berry Brazelton, MD, Director) and is certified in the Brazelton Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale.

As a nurse, Mimi developed a unique area of clinical specialization, merging her understanding of health and nursing issues, with her interest in young children with special needs, child development, and parenting.  In her graduate training, Mimi recognized the importance of using a comprehensive multidisciplinary, developmental, play-based, relationship-based model for assessment and intervention with children and families.  Mimi served as the supervisor of the early intervention and preschool unit at Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center for many years, where she gained an extensive understanding of the service system in California for children with special needs and their families.  As a child development specialist, nurse, and director of programs and services, Mimi has many roles at PCDA, including management responsibilities, providing child development specialist services, and providing consultation and training to staff, families, and community professionals on topics related to PCDA programs and services, DIR/Floortime, child development, special needs, and parenting
