Mimi Winer, RN, MS

Mimi WinerMimi is a child development clinical nurse specialist. She has undergraduate degrees in Public Health from UCLA and Nursing from UCSF, and a graduate degree in Parent-Child Nursing from Boston University. She completed a two-year clinical internship with the Child Development Unit at Boston Children's Hospital (T. Berry Brazelton, MD, Director) and is certified in the Brazelton Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale.

Mimi has an extensive background in developmental assessment and intervention with young children and their families. She has specific clinical training in using a developmental model and focuses on understanding the "whole" child, his/her individual developmental strengths and challenges, and relationships in everyday life. She has a special interest in supporting parents who have concerns and questions about child development and enhancing their child's development.

She has provided consultation and training programs for parents and professional groups on a variety of topics related to child development, children with special needs, and parent-child relationships.

Mimi served as the supervisor at Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center for early intervention, preschool and medically fragile children and their families for many years. She has extensive knowledge of the service system in California for children with special needs, including the regional centers, school districts and other public and private agencies, and provides assistance to families to understand state laws, agency regulations and policies, and the process to successfully access services.
