Melinda has recently earned her master's degree in Marital and Family Therapy at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena. Theoretical work focused on family systems, developmental approaches, and children in therapy. Her thesis research consisted of a qualitative study on The Impact of Animal Encounters and Animal-Assisted therapies on the Social-Emotional Challenges in Children with Autism. She just finished work in a year long traineeship at a community agency in which she provided counseling to children, adolescents, and families. Melinda has also earned a bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders; with a focus on developmental disabilities and multi-cultural and multi-lingual clients.
After working over eight years at PCDA in different capacities; she is excited to continue to grow with PCDA and help build up counseling support programs. As the Training Supervisor, she continues to oversee the initial core training for clinical staff, as well as, the clinical Two-Year Training Curriculum. She also oversees and coordinates outside training contracts with various Head Starts and other agencies. As a Child Development Specialist, she is a member of the interdisciplinary feeding team, offers DIR/Floortime consultation support, clinical consultation and support, and counseling support services. As a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, she continues to work towards her licensure; Melinda is supervised by George Holbrook, Marriage and Family Therapist, License No. MFC 24957.
