Alaina Prior, MT-BC, is a graduate of California State University Long Beach with a bachelor's degree in Voice Performance, and Arizona State University with an equivalency degree in Music Therapy. She completed her clinical training at MusicWorx, Inc. San Diego where she gained experience working with extremely diverse populations: Alzheimer's disease and dementia, bereaved, cancer, comatose, developmentally disabled, infants and toddlers, K-12 youth, lifestyle change, medical/surgical, neurologically impaired, special needs education, stroke, and traumatic brain injured.
Interested in music from a young age, Alaina decided to study voice seriously in high school and went on to study and perform throughout her college years, doing both solo and choral work. It was upon completion of vocal studies at Long Beach, that she discovered Music Therapy. It was with this career that she truly found her niche in the world. She is passionate about using musical experiences and building relationships to help people on their journey toward wholeness.
A native of California, Alaina loves to spend her leisure time at the beach, kayaking, and going to movies and concerts. She still loves singing, and performs whenever she can. Alaina is very excited to be a part of PCDA's interdisciplinary team, and looks forward to learning new skills and growing as a therapist, as well as having the opportunity to collaborate with other program staff and therapists at the facility.
