Our Classes

Music Together Fall Program at PCDAMusic Together® at PCDA is available in both Mixed Ages Classes and Music Together within Therapy Classes. Music Together within Therapy classes are specifically reserved for children who receive services at PCDA and/or have a developmental delay, with a maximum of 4 children per class. Please contact Melissa St. John for clarification on which class will be a better fit for your family.

Mixed-age Classes

This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.

Music Together within Therapy

PCDA's board certified Music Therapists provide the same song collections for children from birth through age 6 and their families to serve families who might not otherwise be able to experience Music Together.

  • These classes are for families of children who receive other services at PCDA, have a developmental delay, or for a parent who would like extra support
  • With a maximum class size of 4 families, the teacher has a greater opportunity to support the needs of your child, and encourage your ability to support your child through music
  • Addresses the specific needs of individuals with disabilities, and special needs using the Music Together program
  • Emphasis on parent education
  • CD and songbook to take concepts from session to home

Class Times: Saturdays at 9am and 10am  •  Semester starts June 15

Basic Principles of the Music Together® Philosophy:

  1. All children are musical
  2. Therefore, all children can achieve basic music competence, which we have defined as the ability to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm
  3. This growth is best achieved in a playful, developmentally appropriate, non-performance-oriented learning environment that is musically rich yet immediately accessible to the child's-and the adult's!-participation.
