Programs and Services
Head Start
PCDA offers training and consultation services to many Head Start programs throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Training is provided to teachers and aids, in both regular Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Our multi-disciplinary team provides workshops for in-service training, and also provides on-going in classroom support.
Training topics include:
- Food Allergies & Intolerances, Nutrition & Development, and Pediatric Nutrition
- Facilitating language development
- Understanding and managing difficult behaviors
- Including the child with autism
- Ways to support a child with physical challenges
- Supporting social-emotional development
- The FloortimeTM approach
On-going support is often especially valued because the PCDA specialists can go into the classroom, and provide hands-on assistance for teachers and aids in the context of their daily routine.
