The PCDA Feeding Team is an interdisciplinary team of specialists who offer comprehensive assessment and ongoing feeding therapy services for children with a
wide range of challenges with eating and growth.
The team includes:
Children may have oral-motor difficulties with chewing or swallowing, sensory aversion to touch, smell or taste of foods, be underweight or overweight, have medical problems that affect hunger and digestion, and/or have behavioral challenges around eating.
The Feeding Team works together to gain a comprehensive understanding of the child's eating and nutrition, and provides feeding therapy to promote overall feeding skills and nutrition. Parents and other caregivers are included in all therapy sessions so that feeding strategies are integrated into the child's routine. The team works closely with school staff, physicians, and other specialists as needed to achieve feeding goals.
The PCDA Feeding Team believes that eating must be a pleasurable experience for the child and uses various feeding strategies embedded in a play-based interaction to support feeding.
