Head of Creative Arts Melissa St. John with Emil Richards
The Creative Arts Department and PCDA would like to give a special thank you to Emil Richards, who generously donated percussion instruments to our Music Department to be used in Music Therapy and Adapted Music Lesson programs.
Emil is a world-renowned percussionist who has collaborated with many of the most famous musicians in the industry. Emil has performed in the orchestra pit at 30 Oscars telecasts, and worked on the soundtracks for around 2,000 movies and TV shows, including Jaws, Taxi Driver, Mission: Impossible, Cars 2... and he performed the iconic finger-snapping on The Addams Family's theme song! You can read a NPR profile of Emil here. Thank you Emil!
The Creative Arts Department has received a very generous $4,000 grant from the Pasadena Rotary Club to provide scholarships for the camp! This will allow families who would otherwise be unable to attend the summer camp to give their children a wonderful creative experience.

UPS donates $5000 to PCDAPCDA was very pleased to receive a grant of $5,000 from the UPS foundation to be used for technology upgrades. The check was presented to Diane Cullinane, by Mr. Gerald Yee.
PCDA recently received a $3000 grant from Target® which will provide several children with special needs the opportunity to learn about music, through participation in Adapted Music Lessons. Many children with special needs show interest in learning an instrument, but are not able to benefit from traditional music lessons. To support these children, Pasadena Child Development's (PCDA) Adapted Music Lessons look at each child's individual needs, paying close attention to their unique sensory profiles, learning styles, and individual strengths. These specialized lessons are taught by board certified music therapists and use the power of rhythm, sound, and movement to support children with developmental disabilities to learn how to play an instrument.
Please help children like Max, to explore their creativity through the beauty of music. Donations of any amount are gladly accepted to support this program.
